Green Means Go! Take the 60 a Day Challenge in 2014-15!
Make 10 Healthy Choices and Win!
Anderson School District Four believes it has a responsibility to help students and families learn, establish, and maintain lifelong healthy eating and activity patterns. Current statistics show that 64% of Anderson County’s population is considered overweight or obese. In the last two decades, obesity rates have quadrupled in children ages 6-11 (4% - 20%) and tripled in adolescents ages 12-19 (6% - 18%). In an effort to fight childhood obesity in Anderson Four, the 2013-14 District Jumpstart Council recommended increasing our nutritional education efforts and expanding the number of fitness events. Thus, we are proud to announce the Green Means Go initiative! It’s our way of investing in your child’s health, teaching healthy habits, and rewarding healthy choices!
The Green Means Go care identifies several fitness and nutritional options that students can earn punches for participation. Fitness events and nutritional choices (incorporating fresh-from-the-garden and farm-to-table concepts) are listed below. Once all 10 punches are earned, students can submit their card to the school secretary to redeem their prize. And for convenience, the Green Zone Card can easily be attached to your child’s book bag!
